Bergman, Himmel, Goetz & Prebul Co., Inc. merger with Silver & Associates, Inc.

In 2015, we implemented a business plan, to invest the necessary resources to meet the evolving needs of our clients and BHG&P for long-term success. At the center of our plan goals is the firm mission which we were founded nearly seventy years ago – dedication to providing clients quality of service by dependable, accessible and knowledgeable accounting and tax professionals. These goals have guided us to our continued success based on long-term relationships.

We are pleased to announce that Silver and Associates, Inc., a leading CPA firm in Beachwood, is merging with Bergman, Himmel, Goetz & Prebul Co. Inc. The consolidation of our firms will practice under the name of BHGP&S Co., Inc.

The collaboration with Stuart and Laura Silver and their team is an exciting opportunity and challenge for us. Stuart and Laura have built a very successful firm, one that share our values and is focused on providing highly personalized accounting, tax compliance, and consulting to their clients. Their expertise and resources are a perfect complement to our firm.

Together, the firms will continue to offer traditional services, including auditing and accounting, tax compliance, small business accounting, QuickBooks accounting services, and planning.

Bergman, Himmel, Goetz & Prebul, Co., Inc, was founded in 1946 by Hartley Bergman. The firm has grown into a nine member Certified Public Accounting firm primarily serving Northeast Ohio. Bergman, Himmel. Goetz & Prebul’s current management and staffing have been together serving clients since approximately 1980.

Silver & Associates, Inc.

Silver & Associates, Inc. is a full-service Certified Public Accounting firm that was established in 1984 by Stuart and Laura Silver. We primarily work with closely-held or family-owned businesses as well as providing tax and advisory services for individuals and families.

We are dedicated to providing our clients with professional, personalized guidance and services in a wide range of tax and business needs. It is our philosophy to be adaptive to the clients abilities in order to work together to ensure that they pay least amount of taxes allowable under the law. Our expertise and experience allows us to work with businesses from start-ups to established enterprises in a wide range of fields.

Peer Review

The peer review program, conducted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), is a periodic outside review, performed by another accounting firm, of a firm’s quality control system in accounting and auditing. The program was instituted to promote these effective systems for certified public accounting firms.

A peer review of a CPA firm can be used by an audit committee as a tool to assess whether the CPA firm it hires or is considering hiring:

1. Has a system of quality control for its accounting and auditing practice that has been designed to meet the requirements of the AICPA’s Statements on Quality Control Standards (SQCSs).
2. Is complying with that system of quality control during the peer review year to provide the firm with reasonable assurance of complying with professional standards.

BHGP&S, Co., Inc. participates in the review practice monitoring program and is evaluated every three years. Importantly, in our most recent peer review in 2021 and in previous reviews, we received the highest rating on the quality of our practice, “unmodified” opinion without a letter of comment. These “unmodified” opinions expressed by the reviewers in their written peer review reports confirm that our firm has a sound system of quality control and meets the standards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s Statements on Quality Control Standards. It is the highest rating a firm can receive.
